Back by popular demand, this year the club's annual flotilla will take us to the Sunshine Coast of BC. This sparsely populated section of the coast lies between Howe Sound and Jervis Inlet. The flotilla this year will depart from Sidney BC, Saturday April 30, 2016 - Sunday May 8, 2016 with a pre-departure boarding Sat April 30, 2016. Our home port for this excursion will be Sidney, BC with Yachts chartered through Coopers Boating. From this base, we will be able to cross the Strait of Georgia and explore the waters of the Sunshine Coast and the surrounding islands including Texada, Lasquiti, Jedidiah among others or explore the Gulf Islands on the Vancouver Island side of the strait. Typical costs for the week of sailing are in the range of $1000 per person depending upon the yacht and the number of sailors on board. This will normally include your share of the yacht charter, insurance, fuel, moorage and food. Additional costs would involve transportation to and from Sidney. Each yacht is chartered by a qualified and certified skipper who will be responsible for the daily operations of the yacht. Individual crew members are added to the crew list based upon experience and personal expectations. No experience is necessary, just a love for sailing and exploring.
