Heritage Class Criteria: Sailboats of classes that were designed in 1970 or earlier. These include (Class, Design Year): Lightning (1938), Comet (1932), Fireball (1962), Y Flyer (1941), Sea Spray (1966), Mirror Dinghy (1962), Enterprise (1956), Finn (1964), OK Dinghy (1956), Flying Dutchman (1951), Flying Junior (1956), International 14 (1928), International Canoe (1886), Wayfarer (1957), 420 (1959), Optimist (1947), and potentially others. Any boat of one of these classes is eligible, regardless of construction date and materials. For example, a 2015 Fireball made of epoxy fibreglass and a 1967 Fireball made of wood would both be eligible to participate in the Heritage Classic Sail.

Courses: Sailing courses may be windward/leeward, triangle or a combination of the two, and potentially one longer-distance event.
A single mass start will be done with overall positions based on Portsmouth handicaps. Overall winners of each class will also be recognized.
Meals and Social: Meals and social activities are part of a broader centennial of sailing celebration being held the same weekend.
Welcome Wine and cheese, Saturday Breakfast, Sunday Breakfast, and Sunday Awards lunch (all meals except Saturday Dinner) are included for crew and skipper if registered for sailing. Sailors may alternately purchase a full meal package or singly the Saturday supper. The Saturday supper will include a program of reminiscing, history of the classes and other contributions from attendees. Some of this will be recorded on video.
A classic boat ‘show & shine’ will be held Saturday evening from 1730 onward with boats displayed on the front lawn of the club (west side) with signage.

(there will be an early bird registration up to and including July 1st 2024 the first 15 boats registered will receive a hand crafted miniature sailboat)

1700 CHECK IN Registration desk – pick up wrist bands, wine and cheese tickets
- Volunteers in place to help with sailors arriving with boats; coroplast signs available for sailors to write provenance of heritage boats for Saturday show and shine; trailers, motor homes, campers set up; displays in Club basement open for viewing.
- Late registration for sailors for Heritage Sail. Registration for the full event includes all meals and Wine and Cheese. Meals and W/C can be purchased individually.
1700 - 1915 Wine and Cheese ($15 registered) included for Heritage Sailors and Attendees
- Other visitors for the History of CYC presentation and Wine and Cheese pay $15
1930 - 2100 ‘The History of the Calgary Yacht Club “ Michael Hooper slide show and talk

- Photo of all Commodores in attendance
1200 - Skippers Meeting for Heritage Sail Day 1
1300 - 1700 - Sailing Day 1
- Visitors may be able to take rides on boats available for visitors to enjoy the sailing.
1300 - Boat rides to view sailing start
1730 - 2100 Show and Shine - heritage boats and descriptions on west lawn CYC
1830 Evening BBQ Supper ($25 registered)
- Buffet burgers and smokies, homemade salads, buns, and rhubarb/fruit crisp dessert with ice cream. Program of reminiscing, history of the fleets and other contributions from attendees. Some of these will be video recorded.
1945 pm to 2100 pm Evening program, reminiscing, videographer in place to record stories.

0800 am to 0900 - self serve continental breakfast.
1000 to 1330 - Heritage Sail Day 2 Sailing
- Visitors may be able to take rides if boats available for visitors to enjoy watching the sailing.
1100 – Boat rides to view sailing start.
1400 - 1500 Buffet Sandwich Lunch ($15 registered), souvenir cookies, windup and Awards
