Back by popular demand. This year the club’s annual flotilla will take us up the strait of Juan du Fuca with stops in Sooke, Port Renfrew, Bamfield and into the broken group of islands.The Broken Group Islands of Barkley Sound are located on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  They are an internationally renowned sea kayaking destination and part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Natural features of this beautiful archipelago of more than one hundred islands include lagoons, sandbars, blowholes, sea caves, arches, white sandy beaches and quiet coves.This sparsely populated section of the coast lies between Canada and the U.S and as in most years our itinerary will be weather and wind dependent. The flotilla this year will depart from Sidney BC, Sunday April 30, 2017 returning on Sunday May 7, 2017 with a pre-departure boarding Sat April 29, 2017. Our home port for this excursion will be Sidney, BC with Yachts chartered through Coopers Boating and Island Cruising. Typical charter costs for the week of sailing are in the range of $1200 per person depending upon the yacht and the number of sailors on board. This will normally include your share of the yacht charter, insurance, fuel, moorage and food and beverage. Additional costs would involve transportation to and from Sidney. Each yacht is chartered by a qualified and certified skipper who will be responsible for the daily operations of the yacht. Individual crew members are added to the crew list based upon experience and personal expectations. No experience is necessary, just a love for sailing and exploring.
